Hello, my name is Randy Hare, owner of the Alpha K-9 Training Center. I would like to personally welcome you to our web site. This page is dedicated to explaining our procedures pertaining to catering to our Memphis Clients. Over the past eight years we have received increasing interest from the Memphis Area as well as other Cities, including but not limited to, New Orleans, Atlanta, and even as far away as Springfield Illinois. We at Alpha K-9 believe that the reason for the increased interest is an honest and well earned reputation. Proof of this excellent reputation exists on our "Jackson Ms Reference Page" or our Memphis Tn Reference Page where we list EVERY dog trained (not just a select few) complete with their owners names and place of residence. At Alpha K-9 we believe that listing every single client separates "Alpha K-9" from the other trainers and training centers that have proven to be so controversial in this sensitive business of dog training. Refusing to exercise the norm of downgrading and belittling other trainers and training centers, we at Alpha K-9 will let our results and Reference List speak for itself.

In listening to our current Memphis Clients we are aware that most trainers in the Memphis Area believe that training should occur only with the owners present and in a group type environment where the owner is present with their dogs. The belief is that you should be present with your dog at the trainers facility once a week where the instructor teaches you to work on various things at home. This is usually done with a group of other owners with their dogs present. The owners receive different instructions each week for a period of anywhere from 6 to 12 weeks. I would estimate conservatively that over half our clients have previously attempted this process before turning to us. While this process may be good for some dogs, I personally believe that having a professional and reputable trainer train your dog BEFORE training you to handle your dog is the very best way to go. Can you imagine taking your child to a class where each parent was present and having the teacher instruct parents to teach their children with everything else going on in the class. It is hard enough with thirty children and only one teacher. Is there anybody out there who would not agree that every child would benefit if each child had its own professional teacher? Our Obedience Training Page completely outlines our training beliefs and practices and our Reference Page is proof positive of our results and client satisfaction. Our process of educating and training the dog away from the dog's normal home environment not only increases the dog's confidence, but also allows us as professional trainers to shape and reshape the dog's behavior. From there its a matter of transferring that knowledge and respect from us over to the owners. Owners receive lessons during the last week of the four week training period. By the end of the owners lessons they are knowledgeable enough to transfer the dog's training over to their home environment.

Memphis Trip Dates for 2013  Saturday

The main obstacle for our Memphis Clients is the 200 miles between Memphis and our Jackson, Mississippi facility. It is for that reason that Alpha K-9 has scheduled regular trips from Jackson, Ms. to Memphis. Once a month Alpha K-9 will travel to our Memphis Tennessee location at Family Veterinary Practice on 5712 Stage Road in Bartlett. Once there our trainers will conduct lessons at Family Veterinary Practice where owners will learn to handle their newly trained dogs. Upon completion of the lessons the owners will take their dogs home and new clients will bring their dogs in to make the trip to Jackson Mississippi for their training. Alpha K-9s state-of-the-art, self contained, and air-conditioned Mobil Training Center is utilized in transporting dogs to and from Memphis. The Mobil Training Center is solid and safe complete with piped in music for the trip. Once the dogs arrive at Alpha K-9, each dog is introduced to the grounds and their separate quarters inside the facility. For the first 2 days the dogs are spoiled with hotdogs and play time until they are familiar with their surroundings. Training starts on the third day and owners are encouraged to schedule a visit to Alpha K-9 on or around the two week mark of training. During this visit owners will observe one of their dogs training sessions from behind a two-way mirror. After the training session the owners are allowed to visit and play with their dog. For owners unable to make the trip, a video tape of the 2 week mark session will be sent to the dogs owners. During the fourth week private lessons will be scheduled in advance with the owners. The lessons are THE most important part of the training process and are usually less than 30 minutes in duration.

In closing let me encourage everyone interested in having your dog trained to thoroughly check many of their references and talk to many different veterinarians from the facilities area (not just one or two). Usually the facilities and trainers with good reputations have done much to earn that reputation. The same, however, usually holds true for those possessing bad reputations.
