Narcotics Detection

Police canine Dinky locating narcoticsMy twelve years in Law Enforcement was totally dedicated to handling a dual purpose Canine trained in patrol work as well as Narcotics Detection. For those twelve years I studied every known technique for training detection dogs possible. I combined many of those techniques and borrowed a hand full of ideas learned in bite training and mammal training (porpoises, dolphins, etc.) to devise this method that I now promote. In teaching the dog to make his own experience through reinforcement the dog learns not to trust his eyes, ears, or even his sense of smell in many cases. In fact, we prefer that the dog know exactly where the reinforcement (toy) is. Most handles whose dogs are trained utilizing this method with the tennis ball will actually bounce the ball as the dog is searching and sometimes while the dog is actually alerting.

Narcotics Detection dog trainingWhether you prefer passive alert or aggressive alert, this method gives you the best of both worlds. By utilizing this method you can take advantage of the drive, accuracy, and safety from property damage that results from this training. We at Alpha K-9 are excited about our association with "Canine Training Systems, Inc." in Colorado and their production of our upcoming video release featuring our "Detection Training Technique" set for release during the February 2005.
