"Hey Randy.

Since attending your "Trainers Course" with Eros I have noticed a huge difference in his abilities. He searches with a drive now that I have never seen before. His alerts are hard and fast, and I am seeing the combinations we shaped in him. Everyone has commented on it. We found a couple of ounces of cocaine in a house search and about five pounds of marijuana in a warehouse search on Thursday. I wish you could have seen him going into odor and working it out. I have been working a couple of my problem dogs using the techniques we learned. Obviously I don't have the boxes yet, but just the limited amount I have been able to work them, I have seen dramatic changes. We will see what happens in the long term, but at least I feel like I have the tools now to solve these problems and it is a big relief! Our boss agreed to send at least one person to your next trainers class, but I am pushing for both. Keep me up on dates for this. Talk to you later...

Randy,

I can honestly say that every day of this "Trainers Course" I have either seen or experiences something that just blows me away concerning this course. The method is truly innovative and different. I have worked with some of the best trainers in the world and I am glad to add this technique to my collection of references.

Randy,

Thanks for an excellent "Trainers Course". I hated that the course had to end. It was really informative and taught a lot about Dog Training in general. Stay in touch.

Thanks again,

Randy,

Thanks for the class ....I really did learn a lot and also had some "old" things put into a new prospective.

In my life I have told the following statement to 4 men you now being the fifth...it has a very strong meaning to me and comes from one of the oldest and most respected Law Enforcement organizations in the modern world. Take a couple of days and see if you can figure it out.....if not I will explain.

Hey Randy,

Just wanted to say Hi and thanks again for the great trainer's course. I also wanted to tell you about a find we had a couple of weeks ago. One of the district units called us to search a pick-up they had stopped. I had to pull past the stop because of traffic. Once I got Norbo out of the vehicle, I started to walk towards the vehicle to start my search at the back of the truck like I always do. Norbo went into odor before I ever passed the front wheel, so I let him work. He worked the front of the truck very hard. He went under the vehicle on the driver's side and from the front but could not get to source. Norbo then went under the truck at the front passenger side, crawled up over the front passenger tire and put his nose in the back portion of the wheel well. Now, knowing how big he is, I want you to picture his nose up in the wheel well with the front half of his body molded around the tire. Needless to say he almost got stuck. He then pulled himself out, walked around to the side of the vehicle, put his nose in the same spot and sat. When we opened the hood of the truck, directly above his nose in the back of the engine compartment was a ½ pound of marijuana. He did exactly what we taught him to do and pinpointed the odor just like it was the boxes. Thanks again for everything. I am starting converting several of our street dogs to your style of training and things are going great. Tell everyone Hi from Louisville and I will talk to you later.

Randy,

I was blown away by how clearly you made things in class. The system makes perfect sense to me and I can tell it is clearly easier for the dogs to understand.

Thanks a million,

Hi Randy,

Just to let you know that since your class in June I've been working with Kazan on establishing more independence in his search. I've been able to work with Vince Feltner since your class and I have seen improvement by continuing your techniques.

On Friday, 07-14-06, Kazan and I attended a training session with 5 other Bomb dogs. One of the searches we had to do was to find a fired revolver inside of a machine shop. The revolver had been fired three days earlier and was hidden inside of a pile of metal. There were a lot of oils and fluids present inside of the shop. Handlers with more experienced dogs started the exercise. None of the handlers were told where the revolver was at. This is considered a difficult search for us. The noises and smells distracted the first two dogs and they were not able to locate the gun.

I noticed that the first two handlers worked very close to their dogs and experienced a number of false responses. By remembering your advice to let the dog do the search, I started Kazan on the exercise.

I started using a ten foot lead so that I could stand back more and let Kazan search. Well it paid off. Kazan was the first and only dog to locate the revolver. He did this without my having to step in, as I would normally have done, to assist him in the search pattern.

Kazan displayed more independence in his search, more that what I observed the other dogs do. Needless to say I was only too happy to explain to the other handlers how and why Kazan did so well. Obedience to odor and not the handler made the difference.

Thanks again for your help and I have strongly recommended your class to every dog handler I come across.

Randy,

The class was absolutely great. I never thought in terms of a dogs drive just what they would be capable of when correctly utilizing those drives. You have given me a new outlook on dog training and I thank you for that....

Randy,

Thanks for all your help. After watching the "On Target Tapes", this school really filled in the gaps. I will be by in the next few weeks to pick up the rest of our 60 boxes.

Randy,

I have been through many schools and for the most part I can remember being eager for them to be over with. I have to say that I enjoyed every single minute of this school. Keep up the good work.

Randy,

Thanks for the trainers course for the On-Target method. Being what I thought was a good narc dog trainer with a clear understanding, Your method is mind blowing how much easier and better it is for the dog by cutting out all of the "Human / distraction influences". It is truly so much clearer in my mind for the dog to reach higher expectations by pushing past the distractions. Thanks for being an instructor that is truly there to educate the students that take your course. I offer my highest praise for your method, course and personal abilities as a trainer and instructor. Because of your course, I look forward to those Highway stops. As for my current dog Krueg. Krueg was a good dog prior to being introduced to your method, but know he is threw the roof. If that head whips then someone is going to jail. His confidence is thru the roof as well and is a completely different dog now. Thank You for giving me the knowledge to teach other dogs and handlers with this powerful system. We are currently working on our Grant dogs now.

Thanks again, and Tell Gina hello. I will see you both in Vegas in February at the conference!!!

Sincerely,

To whom it may concern,

I recently back in December 2008 attended Randy Hare's "On Target Method of Detection Trainers Course". I brought with me a female dog, named Britt, who had no experience in detection before attending his course. From start to finish, it took about 2 1/2 to 3 weeks to get Britt trained on explosives. Since then britt has excelled in her explosive detection due to Randy's detection method. Compared to other methods, this one teaches the dog to be independent and not rely on the person holding the leash. Past box methods I saw a lot of false responses but with Britt it was pretty much zero or if she did it was handler induced. I have since trained numerous canines on his method and will continue to. I've seen some of the dogs progress very quickly but usually takes no more than 3 weeks start to finish. I would strongly recommend this method to anybody looking to train explosive dogs. If there are any questions about anything regarding this course feel free to contact me at: whatdaproblemis0ATaolDOTcom.

Randy,

I had my meeting with the Chief Dog Trainer, this morning and got the chance to tell him all about the course and the methods.

It was scheduled for 2 hours, but 4 hours later I was still going.

It wasn't a hard sell - he was very open to it and just wanted to know how everything worked.

Over March and April he wants me to work with one or two of the instructors here and train 3 or 4 dogs to an operational level so they can evaluate the system for their purposes, and to skill up the instructors so that they can apply it to a Narcotics course that will be held in June.

I couldn't have hoped for a better reception.

All the best.

Hi Randy,

This is long over do, but by now you know me, and slow and steady is my only speed. I just wanted to thank you and ever one at Alpha K9 for all of the time and effort you have put into my training, let alone my dog. I've been training for over 25 years and have seen a lot of methods come and many thankfully go. You are one of the most knowledgeable people I have ever met when it comes to dogs in general and amazing when the word detector gets applied. I have tried many other methods to teach detector dogs and was struggling to find my own method that worked within the dog's drives, instead of human ego and domination. Luckily instead of spending another 25 years I just went to your trainer's class instead.

The first thing that was obvious is you love dogs, I mean really love them. They are not just objects to get dollars into your bank account. I have a couple pictures of you watching a dog in training that would make Gina jealous if she saw them. You also have a deep desire to make handlers and trainers the best they can be for their dogs sake. An amazing attribute many other educators could take a lesson from. You are humble and always give credit to the dogs and their handlers for their achievements. Let me let you in on a little secret; they would not be able to do it without you. I learned more in three weeks than I had in years and you were able to get me all fired up again about training. I was quickly reminded that I don't know a lick about dogs and that is the cool part about working with them. Every day is an adventure and other people should be so lucky to have my job.

More importantly, the system works, its repeatable and the results are amazing. Every time I work my dog I get comment after comment on how awesome he is. Always nice to hear you have a nice dog. The only downside is how many times I have had to say NO, he is not for sale. Then I pull out another dog, and another and another. Same thing, all great dogs, they work independently, they just won't false, they love their job and can hang with any other dog I train with regardless how long they have been on the street. I saw students who had worked dogs for years stare in amazement and awe, then pride at their new dog.

The system is so deceptively simple to watch and yet I feel I will never master it. The dogs humble me at how fast and eager they are to learn and how happy they are to work. I have never seen a method, that after the dog learns the basic system can add additional odor so fast. On average I need one day to add a new odor and it's locked in. Add to that your experience on the street and from the other students and I learned things about hunting for contraband that would take a lifetime to get. The hardest thing about your method is to shut up and let the dog figure it out. Now it's the easiest thing about it, and I use in all of my training classes.

If anyone is even considering getting a detector dog they would be foolish not to contact you. The method is amazing, your finished dogs; wow is the only word I can think of. When I get a dog up to Rexx or Bunk's level I'll have that bad boy on YouTube the same day. Now that I have gone through the detector class I am going to find time for the S&R class. As an old guy I have limited time left as a decoy, but you have given me a new lease on life training detector dogs. I am forever grateful to you and Gina and everyone at Alpha K9.

Feel free to give my contact info to anyone who is interested in training or a finished dog. I would be glad to talk to them.
